This Maker's Mark Private Selection bourbon was chosen by the San Diego Barrel Boys, a local bourbon enthusiast group. It is bottled at 54.4% ABV (108.8 proof) in a 750ml bottle and comes from Loretto, Kentucky.
It was made through the distillery's finishing programme, the method Bill Samuels Jr. used to create Maker's 46. Ten custom oak staves went into a full barrel of cask-strength Maker's Mark, which then rested for about ten weeks in the limestone cellar. This barrel's recipe uses three Baked American Pure, two Seared French Cuvée, two Roasted French Mendiant and three Toasted French Spice staves. It keeps the hand-dipped red wax seal.
