Maker's Mark (70cl)

Maker's Mark is a Kentucky bourbon from a distillery in Loretto that dates from 1953. Bill Samuels, Sr. could not afford to age his spirit for many years, so he set the grain proportions much as one would for a loaf of bread. The recipe leaves out rye and uses barley and wheat, which gives a delicate sweetness. The bottle is sealed with red wax, an idea that came from his wife. The nose is fruit and spice, citrus peel and sultanas. The palate is full and soft, with butter, vanilla and walnut.
