This is a Napoléon Armagnac from Marie Duffau, with a minimum age of six years.
The nose opens with roasted chestnut and baked pear, then moves towards pineapple, caramel, black raisins, prunes and old oak. On the palate it is creamy and semisweet, turning nutty and woody in the middle, with notes of cocoa, orange rind, cake batter and vanilla.
The finish is oily, semisweet and oaky, with soft tannins and a touch of rancio.
