Martell L'Or de Jean Martell is a hors d'âge cognac at 40% ABV, blended from more than 400 eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne and Borderies crus, some of them over a century old. It comes in a 75cl Baccarat crystal decanter shaped like a drop.
The blend pairs the body and roundness of Borderies with the structure and length of Grande Champagne. Martell was founded in 1715 by Jean Martell.
The nose offers bergamot, orange peel, dark berries, blackcurrant, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, myrrh, undergrowth and rancio. The palate is silky, with blackcurrant, gingerbread and orange peel, and the finish is very long, led by ginger and violet.
