Martini Extra Dry is a dry vermouth from Piedmont, in a one litre bottle. It is made from wine, which must make up at least 75% of the total, with sugar, neutral alcohol, aromatic herbs, spices and flavourings. Wormwood is the most prominent of the herbs. The wine was originally Moscato di Canelli.
It was launched for New Year 1900 by Martini & Rossi, a house founded in 1847. It can be drunk neat, over ice or mixed with juices and other spirits.
The aromas are intense yet delicate, with blackcurrant and lemon, floral notes of iris, and darker tones of wood and Sherry.
