Mary Dowling Kentucky Straight Bourbon Double Oak Barrel Strength

Mary Dowling Double Oak Barrel Strength is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at barrel strength and left unfiltered. The release honours Mary Dowling, who is remembered as the "Mother of Bourbon" and who kept working through Prohibition. The bourbon is aged first in new oak, then finished in toasted double oak barrels, which is where the name comes from. The nose offers dark maple syrup, toasted brown sugar and warm vanilla bean. On the palate come toffee, burnt caramel, charred oak and cinnamon bark. The finish is long and warming, ending in oak, nutmeg and black pepper.
