A wheated bourbon from the Mary Dowling Whiskey Company in Louisville, Kentucky, bottled at 45.5% ABV. It honours Mary Dowling, a pioneering woman in the bourbon industry before Prohibition.
The mash bill is 65% corn, 25% winter wheat and 10% malted barley. The bourbon is aged for over four years in new American white oak barrels, toasted and charred at level 3.
The nose is freshly baked cornbread and warm vanilla cream, with red fruit and a little mint. The palate is smooth, with candy corn or butterscotch sweetness, light baking spice, berries or cherry, oak toast and roasted nuts. The finish is medium and softly warming, with oak-tinged vanilla and mild allspice or cinnamon.
