This is a 1940 white Muscat from Massandra, a sweet fortified wine from Crimea, in a 75cl bottle.
The Massandra winery was founded in 1894 near Yalta and supplied wines to the Russian royal family at their summer palace in Livadia. Its most successful wines were the long-lived fortified styles, made in the same way as vintage port. Many of the sweet fortified wines in the Massandra collection only reach maturity at around 50 to 60 years of age.
