Massenez Eau de Vie Framboise Sauvage (35cl)

Massenez Framboise Sauvage is an Alsace eau de vie made from raspberries, in a 35cl bottle. By law 8 kg of raspberries go into each litre. Raspberries hold too little sugar to ferment into enough alcohol for distilling, so alcohol is added to the fresh berries to draw out their flavour and aroma. In France that alcohol must itself come from another fruit spirit. The flavour and aroma are of raspberry, and elegant. The aroma fades a little over time, so it is best not to keep an opened bottle for too long. The house of Massenez was founded in 1870 by Jean-Baptiste Massenez and has stayed in the family for five generations.
