Masterson's 10 Year Old Rye is a rye whiskey that spends ten years in maturation before a finish in Hungarian oak barrels. The oak is fine grained, and the staves are air-dried outdoors for two years or more. This lets moss grow on the wood, which releases more vanillin. Hungarian oak is described as bringing a delicate balance of vanillin and nut flavours, with sweet wood overtones. The whiskey finishes smooth, with a round mouth feel.
