Masto Don Staoisha 6.5 Year Old (35cl, 62.6%)

A heavily peated Islay single malt, distilled at Bunnahabhain and sold under the Staoisha name. It is 6.5 years old and bottled at a cask strength of 62.6% in a 35cl bottle. It matured fully in an old first-fill Oloroso hogshead, and the colour is a dark copper. The nose has clear but well-integrated peat smoke, ash and a maritime breeze, with dry Oloroso notes of raisins, walnuts and dark bread. The palate is oily, with strong smoke, dry sherry, bitter chocolate and oak spice. The finish is very long, with smoke, dark nuts, cocoa and dry oak, carried by a salty edge.
