Matsui The Kurayoshi 12 Year Old is a blended malt at 43%, in a 750ml bottle. Scottish and Japanese malt whiskies are married at Matsui Shuzou in Kurayoshi, Tottori Prefecture, then matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon white oak. The distillery has been distilling since 1910.
It is proofed with soft spring water from Mt. Daisen, filtered through volcanic rock, and won its category at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards.
It is described as rounded and mature, with vanilla and honeyed oak, malt depth, and a clean, soft finish.
