Matsui The San-In Blended Japanese Whisky (70cl, 40%)

Matsui The San-In is a Japanese blended whisky in a 700ml bottle at 40% ABV. It is made by Matsui Shuzo at Kurayoshi Distillery in Tottori Prefecture, and combines the distillery's own single malt with sourced single grain whisky. The blend is matured in white oak ex-bourbon barrels and reduced with underground spring water from Mount Daisen. San-in means 'the shadow of the mountains', the Sea of Japan side of the Chugoku range. Tasting notes describe a faint vanilla nose, a palate of pear, dried peach, thyme and toast with a touch of apricot and lime zest, and a smooth, mellow, light finish.
