McConnell's Irish Whisky 5 Year Old Cognac Cask

McConnell's Irish Whisky is a five-year-old Irish whisky matured in Cognac casks. The brand dates back to 1776, when the McConnell family of Belfast began selling their whisky, and they later built a distillery on the banks of the Lagan. The name is spelled without an e, a tradition the brand kept when other Irish distillers added one around 1900. The nose offers macerated orange zest, ripe banana, grapes, vanilla and floral notes. On the palate come candied lemon, vanilla sugar, milk chocolate, pineapple and sultanas. The finish is long, soft and fruity, with a touch of leather and gentle ginger.
