McConnell's Irish Whisky 5 Year Old

McConnell's Irish Whisky 5 Year Old is a blend of malted barley and grain whisky, matured in hand-selected ex-bourbon casks. The brand goes back to 1776, when the McConnell family of Belfast began selling their whisky, later building a distillery on the banks of the Lagan. The bourbon casks give a delicate, subtle sweetness. The brand also kept the spelling without an 'e', staying with tradition when other Irish distillers added one around 1900. The aim was a creamy, lemony, floral, fruity and lightly smoky character. The finish carries deep oak and a touch of charcoal.
