McConnell's Irish Whisky is a five year old blend of Irish malt and Irish grain whisky, rested in select bourbon casks. The brand dates to 1776, when John and James McConnell opened a distillery in Belfast and made what is described as the first recorded Irish whisky brand.
The distillery closed in the 1930s after Prohibition and the world wars took their toll, and the name has since been revived. The bourbon casks bring vanilla sweetness, with the Irish character sitting in the background.
