This is a five-year-old peated Speyside single malt from Glenallachie, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
Billy Walker bought the distillery in 2017 and planned a peated whisky, and the first peated spirit was distilled there in 2018. It is made with mainland peat to a level of 35 ppm and matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose brings cedar, cigar box, caramel, mocha and orange peel. On the palate there is rich dark chocolate, smoky honey and mocha, then fig syrup and burnt sugar, with a little peat smoke in the finish.
