Michter's Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye is a single cask rye whiskey in a 70cl bottle. This bottling came out at 53.7% ABV (111 proof), while the strength varies from cask to cask, typically between 53.5% and 57.5%.
The spirit goes into charred oak casks at 51.5% ABV, and the strength rises during maturation as more water than alcohol evaporates. It continues the heritage of America's first style of whiskey, made by Michter's, originally known as Shenk's, America's first whiskey company.
It is described with deep notes of cream caramel, cinnamon, cherry, vanilla and oak spice.
