Michter's Shenk's Homestead Release 2024 Small Batch (70cl, 45.6%)

This is a small batch sour mash whiskey from Kentucky, released in 2024 under the Michter's name. It honours John Shenk, an eighteenth-century distilling pioneer, and uses the sour mash method, in which part of an earlier distillation, known as setback, goes into the next mash. The 2024 release has a notable share of rye, and it matured in French oak from the Vosges region. The staves were air-dried naturally for 24 months before the casks were toasted to a specification. It was bottled at 45.6% in an outturn of 1,990 bottles, without added colouring and without chill-filtration.
