Michter's – Small Batch Sour Mash

Michter's Small Batch Sour Mash is the whiskey sold as Michter's US 1 Sour Mash, a revival of the distillery's Original Sour Mash Whiskey. That whiskey was its most popular product in the 1970s and 1980s, left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US 1 line. Sour mash refers to using some previously fermented mash to start the new fermentation, much as with sourdough bread. Its grain selection means it cannot be categorised as either a rye or a bourbon.
