Michter's US 1 American Whiskey is a small batch Kentucky whiskey bottled at 41.7% ABV. It is made at Michter's in Louisville and contains no grain neutral spirits.
It uses the same mashbill as Michter's US 1 Bourbon but is aged in used American white oak barrels that previously held Michter's whiskey, rather than the new charred oak that bourbon requires.
The nose is butterscotch, vanilla and toasted oak, with a thread of dried fruit. The palate is sweet, with caramel, vanilla, orchard fruit, then mint and baking spice. The finish is moderate, with toasted oak and a last echo of butterscotch.
