Michter's US*1 Barrel Strength Rye is a single barrel Kentucky rye, here in its 2024 edition. It is aged in charred new American white oak barrels.
The distillate goes into barrel at an entry proof of 103, rather than the permitted 125. Michter's says this is costly but gives a richer and more complex whiskey.
Because each bottle comes from one barrel, strength varies; the average across the barrels in the 2024 release is 110.2 proof (55.1% ABV).
