Michter's US*1 Small Batch Sour Mash Whiskey is an American whiskey in a 750ml bottle. Sour mash refers to a method in which some previously fermented mash starts the fermentation of the next batch, much like making sourdough bread. The grain selection means it cannot be classed as either a rye or a bourbon. The Original Sour Mash was the distillery's most popular product during the 1970s and 1980s. It left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US*1 line, keeping to the profile and palate of the earlier whiskey.
