Michter's US 1 Unblended American Whiskey is neither a bourbon nor a rye. It is aged in bourbon-soaked barrels rather than the new oak those styles require.
It never contains grain neutral spirits, which is the reason for the word unblended in its name.
In late 2013 Master Distiller Willie Pratt agreed to re-release it after an absence from the market of nearly three years, judging it just right and the best it had ever been.
