Midleton – Method & Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Finished in French Chestnut (46%)

This Method & Madness release is a single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in Cork, bottled at 46% ABV with no age statement. It is made from malted and unmalted barley distilled in pot stills. The whiskey is first matured in bourbon and sherry barrels, then finished in French chestnut casks, an unusual choice for Irish whiskey. The nose brings toasted chestnut, pecan, baked apple, raspberry nougat, mint and rosemary. On the palate there are dates and cherries, chestnut and pecan, vanilla and subtle liquorice. The finish is very long, with dry oak and grapes, dark chocolate, spiced cherries and peach, fading into anise, mint and roasted chestnut.
