Midleton Very Rare 2023 Vintage Release is a blend of hand-selected single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys, made by Irish Distillers at Midleton Distillery in County Cork. Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman assembled it to balance lighter, delicate styles with the more robust, traditional pot still character. The whiskeys are aged between 12 and 33 years in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels, with more refill casks than usual so that the distillate comes through ahead of heavy wood influence. It is bottled at 40% ABV and produced in limited quantities. The distillery's notes describe nectarine, ripe melon and apricot with fresh ginger and crushed peppercorns on the nose, and a creamy palate with candied orange and dried apricot.

Tasting Notes

Nose

nectarines, ripe melon, green apple and apricot, with fresh ginger, crushed peppercorns, dried flowers, golden syrup, vanilla, honeycomb and roasted coffee beans

Palate

luscious fruit and creaminess, with a camomile-like herbal quality, floral grain, candied orange and dried apricot

Finish

fruits and pot still spices build before giving way to oak tannins and old grain whiskey

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
