Midleton Very Rare 2024 Vintage Release is a blend of single pot still and single grain Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It marks the 40th anniversary of the series, which began in 1984, and is Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman's fourth vintage.
He drew on Warehouse A2 for whiskey matured in first-fill ex-American whiskey barrels and a small number of refill barrels. This year brings more first-fill wood and a higher share of grain whiskey. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The nose is vanilla with floral and herbal notes, orchard fruit, ripe apple and sweet pear. The palate has peach, nectarine, crème brûlée and toffee apple with pot still spice. The finish is lasting, with fruit and American oak.
