Midleton – Very Rare Foret de Tronçais (70cl, 48%)

Midleton Very Rare Foret de Tronçais is a standalone Irish whiskey blending single grain and single pot still, bottled at 48% ABV. The whiskeys were first matured in American bourbon barrels, then finished for three years in a T5 cask of fine-grain oak from the Forêt de Tronçais in France, supplied by Taransaud Cooperage. The first edition came to 1,380 bottles, each in a duck-egg-blue bottle inside a hand-crafted cabinet made from Tronçais oak. Kevin O'Gorman blended it as Master Distiller. Green apple, honey and toasted oak are deepened by dark chocolate, dried fig and polished tannin, with a long, silky finish.
