Milam and Greene Straight Rye Whiskey (75cl, 47%)

This is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 47% in a 75cl bottle. The spirit is distilled in Indiana, then finished in old Port wine casks in Blanco, Texas, where it is also batched and bottled. The Texas heat speeds the interaction with the wood, and each finishing cask is tasted until it is ready, so batching follows taste rather than a set date. The Port casks give the whisky a deep ruby colour. On the nose there is cinnamon and chocolate over blackcurrant and blackberry. The palate is rich and velvety, with rye spice wrapped in Port-driven fruit, and the finish is long and warm.
