Milam & Greene – Straight Rye Whisky Port Cask Finish (47%)

Milam & Greene Port Cask Finish is a straight rye made from Indiana whiskey that is moved to Texas, batched in the distillery's warehouse and finished in old Port wine casks. It is bottled at 94 proof (47%). The Texan sun affects how quickly and how strongly the casks add flavour, so some take longer than others. The whiskey is tasted regularly during the finish until the right flavours are reached. The casks are then batched together and proofed before bottling. The colour is ruby. The nose offers cinnamon, chocolate and dark fruits such as blackcurrants and blackberries, and the palate is rich and velvety. The finish is long and warm.
