Gold Spot 13 Year Old Generations Edition is a single pot still Irish whiskey from Mitchell & Son, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV). It celebrates seven generations of the Mitchell family, guardians of Spot Whiskey and one of Ireland's leading wine families.
It combines ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks with a further 16 months in Valpolicella wine casks from the Secondo Marco winery in Italy, which add dark fruit and a softly textured sweetness.
Typically it shows red apple and dark fruit on the nose, with clove, nutmeg and almond. The palate offers red berry compote, toffee apple and raisin, and the finish lingers as sweet wine and pot still spice outlast the oak.
