Yellow Spot is an Irish single pot still whiskey from Mitchell & Son, the Dublin family firm of bottlers and merchants. It recalls the family's habit of marking casks with a daub of paint according to their ageing potential.
The whiskey is triple distilled and rests for twelve years in three kinds of cask: ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and ex-Malaga.
The nose offers peach and apricot, followed by dried fruit, vanilla and marzipan. The palate is soft and full-bodied, in keeping with the nose, and lasts well.
