Monkey 47 is a handmade dry gin from the Black Forest, built on 47 botanicals and bottled at 47%. Among them are cloves, sage, acacia flower, mint, almond and elderberry.
It is clear in the glass. The nose is big, complex and perfumed, with cranberry, lavender, lime, coriander, sage and grapefruit. The palate is layered, and the juniper sits a little further back than in classic gins.
A suggested serve is one part gin to two parts good, dry tonic.
