A red wine made from Montepulciano grapes grown partly with the Pergola Abruzzese method and partly with Guyot training. The vineyards lie between 300 and 450 metres above sea level and are cultivated organically and biodynamically. Only the best bunches are selected; after destemming and gentle crushing, fermentation takes place in steel tanks with native yeasts. After pressing and malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for at least four months in a combination of oak barrels and steel tanks, then rests in bottle before release.
The wine has an intense dark red colour. Its aroma is concentrated, with dark notes of preserved cherry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. The palate is meaty and complex, with good tannin and velvety texture, and a dry, spicy finish that develops well in the glass.
