Morris – Rutherglen Tokay Barrel Single Malt (70cl, 40%)

An Australian single malt from Morris, distilled in Rutherglen, Victoria, from local ingredients and bottled at 40% in a 700ml bottle. This is the second release of the Tokay Barrel; the first was made in collaboration with The Whisky Club. It was aged mainly in French oak ex red wine casks, then finished in barrels that previously held the distillery's 15 year old Cellar Reserve Grand Topaque (Tokay). The colour is a rich copper. The nose shows dried orchard fruits, malted butterscotch and burnt toffee pecan. The palate has fresh fruit, white chocolate creme brulee and a hint of toasted spice. The long finish brings raisin flavours and warm malted honeycomb.
