This is a 10 year old Mortlach, distilled in 2016 and bottled by Signatory Vintage in its 100 Proof series. Mortlach is a Speyside distillery nicknamed 'The Beast of Dufftown' for its unusually heavy, meaty spirit.
The whisky was finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry butt and bottled at a cask strength of 57.1%, non-chill filtered.
In the glass it is rich and robust, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, sulphury meatiness and spice, followed by a long, warming finish.
