Mortlach 12 Year Old The Wee Witchie is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43.4% in a 75cl bottle. It takes its name from the smallest still at Mortlach, whose pointed cap is said to resemble a witch's hat.
Mortlach works six stills of differing shapes and sizes, and its partial triple distillation passes the spirit through the stills an average of 2.81 times. This 12-year-old was matured in oak casks.
Toffee and vanilla open the nose, with baking spice and a little cocoa. The palate brings toffee, dried fruit, dark chocolate and cherry jam, and the finish is medium in length, with malt, dried fruit and warming spice.
