Mortlach 16 Year Old Distiller's Dram is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43.4% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Mortlach, in Dufftown, uses a partial triple distillation that averages 2.81 cycles, a method unchanged since 1896.
The spirit matures in refill and first-fill ex-sherry casks, made from both American and European oak.
The nose is honeyed, with rancio, dark caramel, stewed orchard fruit and toasted almonds. The palate is full-bodied, with dried cherries, pears and toffee, then savoury notes of leather and smoked soy balanced by vanilla and lemon zest. The finish is long, with oak spice, dark fruit and leather.
