This is a 20 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, the first legal distillery in Dufftown, established in 1823. It revives the Blue Seal, which Alexander Cowie used in 1909 for a rare, aged private stock release.
The whisky was matured in a combination of refill casks and ex-sherry casks, chosen from Mortlach reserves of exceptional quality. It is best served neat.
The nose brings dried fruit and cedar. On the palate pepper and cinnamon spice sit alongside smooth, mellow vanilla oak.
