First fill sherry puncheon
A 65 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, from the 1954 vintage and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail from its private reserve stock. It was drawn from a single first fill sherry puncheon, which gave 286 bottles at 43% ABV in a 70cl size. The nose brings stewed plums, orange marmalade, brown sugar, dark chocolate gateau, morello cherries in syrup and hazelnut praline. On the palate come blackcurrant coulis, stewed rhubarb and malted chocolate, then roasted coffee beans and soft wood tannins. The finish is lingering, with aged leather and a gentle nutty edge fading to mature oak.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
