This is a 7 year old Mortlach bottled by Douglas Laing in its Premier Barrel series. It comes in a 70cl ceramic bottle with wooden detailing.
The whisky was matured in oak casks. Mortlach is known for its partly triple distillation, which gives a full body.
The nose is ripe fruit with a light spiciness. The palate is robust, with sweet malt, hints of honey and a base of vanilla, followed by a warm, spicy finish that lingers.
