Mossburn Ephemera The Quadrilogy (70cl, 61.5%)

Ephemera The Quadrilogy is a grain whisky from Mossburn, bottled at 61.5% in a 70cl bottle. It combines four single grain whiskies from four different distilleries and four different decades, matured in four types of cask. First-fill Bourbon casks form the base, balanced by whisky aged in refill whisky casks, French Sauternes dessert wine casks and French red wine barrels. The name nods to Carausius, the Roman who declared himself Emperor of the North in 286 and is said to have ridden a quadriga chariot into battle near York. The nose is rich and oily, with a peach undertone and creamy dairy toffee. The palate is well balanced and elegantly rich, with honey, nuts and hints of peaches and apricots.
