Mossburn Ephemera The Reliquary (70cl, 57.4%)

The Reliquary is a blend of single grain whiskies from each of the five decades since the 1970s, bottled at 57.4% in a 70cl bottle. It marks the story of Robert the Bruce, whose heart was buried at Melrose Abbey in 1996, almost 700 years after he asked for it to be taken to the Holy Land. The whiskies were aged only in first-fill or refill hogsheads, then left to marry in the Reliquary Barrel. The nose is fresh and light, with lemongrass, hay and lemon zest. On the palate come apples, malt, barley sugar, oranges, a little tannin, white pepper, toast and vanilla. The finish is lightly citric.
