Ard-LESS is an unpeated Highland single malt from a distillery founded in 1898 in Aberdeenshire, a house usually known for smoky whisky. Murray McDavid bottled this one in the Mystery Malt series in 2026, from spirit distilled in 2009.
After 16 years in total, the whisky was finished in a combination of Spínola PX and Tawny Port casks. It is bottled at cask strength, 54.3% abv, without chill-filtration or added colour, in an edition of 912 bottles.
The nose offers sultanas and cashews with a touch of dark leather. On the palate there is intense mocha and cocoa alongside juicy red fruit, and the long finish leaves toffee and a faint note of cherry.
