This is a 10 year old Caol Ila from Islay, bottled by Murray McDavid in its Benchmark range. It was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2024 at 51.2%, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The outturn was 1,230 bottles.
The whisky was finished for four years in small Rye whiskey casks from Koval Distillery, Murray McDavid's partners in the US.
The nose is smoky and seaside, with toffee apple and spice. Fruity peat, salted caramel and nuts lead the palate, and the finish is oily, with sweet oak and peppery malt.
