Murray McDavid Coastal Embrace 28 Year Old Diamond Rum Finish (70cl, 53.3%)

This is a 28-year-old blended malt from Murray McDavid, released as Chapter II of its Coastal Embrace series within the 30th Anniversary range. It combines malts from Islay, Orkney and Speyside, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2024 at 53.3% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured in an Oloroso sherry hogshead and spent a further six years in a Diamond rum barrel from Guyana. It is bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration, and 223 bottles were filled. The nose offers lemon drizzle, sweet grass and soft smoke. Sweet citrus, honeyed nuts and toasty malt follow on the palate, and the finish brings salty toffee, dried banana and peppery oak.
