Murray McDavid Ledaig 15 Year Old Rum Finish (70cl, 51.3%)

This is a 15 year old Ledaig, the heavily peated malt made at Tobermory on Mull, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2024 by Murray McDavid in its Benchmark range. It is bottled at 51.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and without chill filtration. 1,448 bottles were released. The whisky was finished in first-fill barrels that once held rum from the Uitvlugt distillery in Guyana. Uitvlugt made a rich, ester-heavy style of rum and closed in 2000. The nose has banana custard, smoky apple and a coastal note. The palate brings grilled peach, pineapple and sweet embers, and the finish offers oily peat, tropical fruits and faint sea spray.
