Murray McDavid Teaninich 9 Year Old Pineau des Charentes Cask (70cl, 53.2%)

This is a 9 year old Highland single malt from Teaninich, bottled by Murray McDavid in its Benchmark range. It was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2023 at 53.2%, with natural colour and no chill filtration, in a 70cl bottle. The outturn is 162 bottles. The spirit spent its last 32 months in a 350-litre red Pineau des Charentes cask, a French fortified wine cask that softened the edges of the young whisky. The nose shows waxy fruits, dried peach and spiced latte. On the palate there is creamy malt, sweet oak and mulled apple, and the finish is long and comforting with sweet oak spice.
