New Riff 8 Year is a Kentucky rye whiskey from New Riff Distilling, aged for at least eight years. It comes from barrels the distillery has set aside for long ageing since its founding in 2014. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted rye, and it is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) without chill filtration.
The nose brings fresh mint, seasoned oak and dark fruit leather over rye spice. The palate is full-bodied, with black pepper, clove, vanilla bean and caramelised citrus, followed by a long, warming finish of oak tannins and savoury sweetness.
