New Riff Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey (75cl, 50%)

New Riff Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey is a four year old Kentucky rye, distilled, aged and bottled at New Riff Distilling in Newport. It meets the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897: one distillery, one distilling season, and bottling at 100 proof, which is 50% ABV. It is non-chill filtered and aged in full-size 53-gallon toasted and charred new oak. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted rye, the distillery's own twist on the classic rye recipe, said to add a rounder elegance. Tasting notes describe rye spice, black pepper, fresh herbs, vanilla and citrus zest on the nose, then cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, caramel, toasted oak and mint on the palate. The finish is long, warming and spicy.
